Getting Started in Homeschooling

Saturday, August 15, 2009 at 2:00pm - At the HOME Office In Hope, Maine
October 3, 2009 at 2:00pm - At the HOME Office In Hope, Maine

Are you just beginning to homeschool? Are you researching the option for your family? Plan to attend an upcoming workshop! If you are a veteran homeschooler, please feel free to come and be encouraged, share your experience with others, or shop. The Heart of HOME Bookstore is on site to provide access to curriculum and resources for new and veteran homeschoolers alike!

We will cover the following topics:

  • Maine’s homeschooling law
  • Record keeping
  • Curriculum planning
  • Helpful resources
  • Portfolios and evaluations
  • Support groups
  • Special needs
  • And much more!

Here's a comment from one of our past attendees.

I attended the "Getting Started" workshop along with my mom and daughter, and wanted to say thank you for everything you are doing to support and encourage homeschooling in Maine. God must be very pleased with your efforts on His behalf. The workshop couldn't have been any more affirming for me, and really brought my mom in on the big picture in a way I never could have done myself.

Donations to HOME’s ministry are welcomed and appreciated. Contact the HOME office for more information, directions and/or to register at:

  FALL MOMS RETREAT

Where veterans and new homeschooling moms come together to share and minister!

Saturday Nov TBD, 2009
10 AM to 4 PM
at the HOME Office in Hope, ME
Cost: $10.00 per person (include with registration)

Everyone needs a day off - especially homeschooling moms. Whether you are a new homeschooler or a veteran, there is something at the mom's retreat that will encourage and refresh you!

Each year brings with it new challenges and issues to address in our homeschooling. Come and share these serious issues in an atmosphere of warmth, good humor and hope. We will have several veteran homeschool speakers. We know that homeschooling moms need a small group of like minded people where they can express their feelings, frustrations and victories. It is our hope that this year's small gathering will give you the individual attention you may need, or that you may be able to minister to another mom who needs your words of encouragement.

We would like to encourage you to come with another homeschooling mom and have an overnight time of rest. If you stay in the surrounding Camden area you can plan a walk along the harbor, browse in local shops and visit the wonderful Owl and Turtle Bookstore. For accommodations visit http://www.camdenme.org

Parking space is extremely limited at the HOME office. If it is possible please consider carpooling!

Please bring a bag lunch. Hope general store nearby offers pizza, subs, etc.

Due to the Convention being earlier (1st weekend in March) there are no plans for a  February Mom's retreat this year. Please plan to attend this Mom's retreat as it is the only one this school year.

To register please send your name, address, email, phone number and payment to:
