Homeschool Freedom

Check Out These Videos to Find Out More!

There is a fundamental sense within all of us that it is right for individuals to have freedom and choice over their own body, health, associations, work, religion, speech, and the unalienable right of parents to make educational and medical decisions for their children.

The video library below will introduce you and your students to some of the many dedicated individuals and organizations throughout the nation working to protect homeschool freedom, as well as freedom in general.

Interview with Kathi Kearney:                                            History of Homeschooling in Maine

The homeschool freedoms we enjoy today are the result of pioneers that went

before us to fight for our right to educate our children in the way that they learn

best. Kathi Kearney is one of those pioneers. She shares the history of Maine's

current homeschool statute and how it came to be.

“The home is the first and most effective place to learn the lessons of life: truth,

honor, virtue, self- control, the value of education, honest work, and the purpose

and privilege of life. Nothing can take the place of home in rearing and teaching

children, and no other success can compensate for failure in the home.”

To be free from government control, parent                funded homeschooling must be protected.

"Freedom isn’t lost in one fell authoritarian swoop. It happens slowly, and by

degrees."   -- Maggie McNeely

On the surface, free money sounds great. However, in order to maintain

freedom from excessive government oversight and regulation, parent-funded,

parent-directed homeschooling must continue to be protected and preserved.

The lines become blurry when homeschoolers take taxpayer money to educate

their children at home. In fact, through ESAs homeschooling simply becomes

public education at home.
